Pattern: Swanky Swigs were made primarily from the 1930s to 1950s.
They are juice or small drinking glasses that are purchased containing food
products. They were introduced by Kraft Food Company for cheese
spread, but were also used for jelly, peanut butter, Miracle Whip and other
food products. The most valuable and collected swigs are from the
Depression era through the 1950s, but they are still made and available
today as character glasses. They came in many different patterns and
colors, including popular cartoon characters.
Several "pop culture" swigs
distributed with Welch's Jelly in the 1950s & 1960s featuring characters
such as Howdy Doody, the Flintstones, the Archies, etc are very valuable.
