Carnival Glass Bowl Identification

by Julie
(Frisco, TX, USA)

My grandmother had about 10 pieces of carnival glass. This one has me stumped! First, what was it used for? Did they have votive candle holders in the 30's because that's what I would have used this for. There's no lid so it can't be a sugar bowl, can it? It's about 4" wide and 4" tall. Round with a square opening. It's beautiful and has a very ornate pattern with a clear art deco lattice design around the top. Very interesting. Any idea what the pattern name and manufacturer are and what was this used for?

Hi Julie -
This is called a rose bowl - I collect them to use as votive candle holders. I am not familiar with carnival glass, so I can't help you out with the pattern - maybe someone will come along who can help!

Rosebowl ID

Hi!

Your rosebowl was produced by Fenton Glass. The pattern is called Persian Medallion and it's one of my favorites.

Go to David Doty's site and check it out! Just type in Fenton Persian Medallion and click on the line that says Persian Medallion and your bowl will be down towards the bottom. His site does NOT give values. His prices are only the "average" sale price during a certain time period. My 2003 "value guide" shows this bowl in Marigold has a book value of $75.00.

It's pretty!
