Cut Floral, Leaves & Vine Flared Bowl

Cut Floral, Leaves & Vine Flared Bowl

Hi!

I'm REALLY hoping someone might have any information on this bowl I purchased. I mainly collect etched depression glass and EAPG and this is the first piece of glass I've bought with this type of etch.

I "believe" it is lead crystal. When you tap it with your nail it rings for a long time and I checked it with a black light and it didn't react positive (yellow) but more of a purple blue. It measures 8" across the rim, stands 5" tall and is 4-1/2" across the base. The blank measures a good 3/16" thick and it has a rather nice weight to it (2.5 pounds). It has a polished pontil, which I've learned is an indicator that it is a "quality" piece. I've looked it over and see no signature but it does have the number 1145 etched on the outer edge of the base.

I collect wheel etched glass and that has a certain look to it (lines). You can feel this is cut but it doesn't have that wheel etched look to it. The flowers, which remind me of poppies and the leaves dimple in. The vines and stems are cut quite a bit deeper into the blank.

I came across a bowl with a similar shape and I believe the comment on it was that it was a sort of wine bucket? Most wine buckets I've seen have straight sides so I'm not sure if that was accurate.

I've asked some fellow collector/friends of mine if they had any ideas on what I purchased and they did not recognize the blank as being American. They speculated that possibly it is European? If ANY of you have an ideas you would like to share with me...or suggestions where I can look around online...PLEASE let me know! I have no problem doing the leg work IF I can just get going in the right direction! The fun of glass collecting! Just can't stand a mystery! LOL

I could only post one I had to chose a straight on shot so you could see the shape. I took pics on a rainy over-cast day and shopped them so the pattern will pop. If you need to see additional pics just let me know and I'll be more than happy to provide you more. Thanks a lot! Any information would be greatly appreciated. Have a good evening!
