by Michelle
(Thornton, CO)

anyone know how old this is I think it is from the 50s, and what pattern or style is it?

thanks, michelle

Hi Michelle -
I used to know what that is - I have had a milk glass one before - but I don't remember at the moment. I will try to look it up or maybe someone else will recognize it.

Marigold Compote ID
by: Angela

Hi Michelle,

What you have is a carnival glass compote which was produced by the Indiana Glass Company. I don't have any books which exclusively cover Indiana Glass patterns so I looked around real quick online for you and this is what I read.

This was produced in the 1960's or 70's, is their #1011 pattern. It was produced in a blue (almost black color and marigold The marigold version is called Tiara Carnival Garland Bowl. In the U.S. we call generally call a stemmed bowl a compote but across "the pond" they say comport. I read on another website that "some collectors call it Tear Drop" which could be the case but that pattern is actually a tad different from this one.

A good place to look for Indiana Glass patterns is at the website I've provided below. There are quite a few patterns shown with information and it's well worth bookmarking.

The link for your pattern is:

Enjoy! Have a good evening!
